Fall Boot Trends
Stepping Out in High-Style
The fall boot trends are kicking the season off to a great start, but forget about those bright candy-colored
shades from the past. This year it's all about deep rich hues and fabrics that offer more variety and
individual style. The following is brief list of some of the hottest boot trends for fall.
Styles
Boots are always in fashion for fall and they come in a variety of styles, colors and fabrics.
Whether it’s tall, ankle, mid-calf or knee-high, boots are always in vogue. Tall boots go great with
skirts, skinny and straight-leg jeans.
Ankle and mid-calf boots give pants and jeans a sophisticated edge
and if you can pull off a sexy knee-high with a hot mini, I say go for it.
Color
This year it’s all about rich reds, burgundys, deep greens, royal blue, fuchsia and golden yellow. Neutrals
are always in style and this fall’s hot picks are gray, chocolate brown and the undisputed black. I myself
love navy blue in fact I consider it to be the forgotten neutral.
I am all for a touch a glam no matter the occasion, and I love metallics. If you are a true glamour
girl at heart I would suggest boots in bronze and pewter. I have a pair in a rose metallic that I am
planning on wearing once the first leaf hits my lawn.
Hottest Trends
I am of the school of “If it doesn’t have a heel, it isn’t a real boot” so I am not a big fan of low-heeled
or flat boots unless I am on a snow-covered mountain or auditioning for a role in “Peter Pan.” However, I
must admit that a sleek pair of riding boots with leggings can look really sharp when paired with a wool
coat or blazer. But I would be amiss if I didn't mention platforms. Platform boots are especially hot
this fall along with patent leather.
Platforms
Platforms can be tricky but with the right outfit and attitude you can make this daring look your own.
Platform boots go great with skirts, just be mindful of the boot length in comparison to the length of
the skirt. For example, you don't want to wear a long wide skirt with a platform boot, it can make your look appear "odd."
For pants opt for a shoe or mid-calf platform boot worn with longer cut trousers or jeans. Pants with a flared leg
will give your look a more sophisticated finish.
Patent Leather
Patent leather is a throw-back to the days of church on Sunday morning. My mom always got me the cutest
patent leather Mary Janes that I had to keep shiny and clean. No longer just for special occasions, patent
leather shoes particularly boots are taking this year’s fall fashion by storm.
Worn with jeans and either a great patent bag or belt, patent leather boots have a super cool retro vibe
to them that can’t be overlooked. However, if patent boots are too much for your tastes there are many boots
styles available that have subtle patent leather accents and trims that look just as fabulous.
If you have the nerve, you must try a pair of patent leather platform boots. They look great after hours
and at the office. When paired with the right outfit, the shiny rich leather along with the higher heel can
give the term "power suit" a whole new meaning.
