Hiring Personal Trainers

trainer I always thought that hiring a personal trainer was either something that celebrities did, or people who had no clue about how to work out. However, a few years ago I found a brochure taped to my mailbox from a personal trainer named Dana, he had just moved to Georgia from Maryland and was trying to drum up some new clientele.

I had never considered getting a trainer before, but it was something about his brochure that piqued my interest. Maybe because after years of faithfully going to the gym and dieting “professionally” with little to no results I finally realized that I was in need of some help.

After talking to him we worked out a program that would work for me, we even negotiated a price that I could afford. So for the next month, at 5:30 in the morning, Dana and I trained in his garage, three times a week.


We did 30 minutes of cardio followed by 30 minutes of strength training. At the end of my training period I had only lost 10 pounds, but I had gained so much more in regards to diet, discipline and what to do and what not to do in order to get the results that I really wanted.

That was 3 years ago, since then I have managed to keep my weight under control while gaining strength and endurance. Over the years I have worked out with several other trainers, each one different in their style and training techniques. Most were very laid back, but I did have one who was straight hard-core, but believe it or not I actually liked him the best.

You see I am going to try you, I will resist and complain, but I love being pushed to my limit. I know it sounds crazy but my dream is to one day work out with Seargent Harvey Walden from Celebrity Fit Club (I know, I am a glutton for punishment).

I have since taken everything that I have learned from my trainers, who I still see and get advice from time to time, and have used it to push myself to get the body that I want. I now do more strength training and less cardio in my work outs and the results have been phenomenal.

No matter what your fitness goals may be, investing in a personal trainer can be a great start. They can give you good information and advice for a fitness program that is right for you. And depending on the trainer you can also negotiate the cost and payment options. Now that you got the facts, you shouldn't have anymore excuses, so get moving!
