About Tracy Caldwell
I was almost finished working on Brand New Diva, when one of my friends asked me if I had a press kit or an “About Me” page on the site, and I realized that I didn’t.
Not because I didn’t know how to create one, I have a degree and a background in marketing communications and PR. But to be honest, I was so involved in the vision of the site and what I wanted it to represent, that the idea of “tooting” my own horn never really entered into my strategic plans.
Many of the people that know me know that I am endowed with the gift of the Blarney Stone, or the “Gift of the Gab.” So I know that it may be hard for them to believe that I was at a total loss for words when it came to creating this page.
However, I think a little background; to my background will shed more light on who I am, and what inspired me to create Brand New Diva.
If you have read any of the articles on the site, you have probably figured out that “I keep it real.” Some may say a little too real; however I am still a Diva to my core. There are no mysteries to solve, or secret identities to be revealed. What you see is what you get. My mother was and still is one of my biggest inspirations. She represents the epitome of strength and beauty, and is the Original Diva in my opinion. Regardless of the situation she is always fly and has an impeccable sense of taste and style. However, she always told us to never put too much value in material things, and to not let others define who we are. These are the things that helped shaped my life. Always the maverick, I believe in embracing your true self, and not always accepting the status quo.

Being the middle-child, I have always been in search of my own identity. I have never followed the crowd (unless I wanted to) and I don’t believe in taking life or myself too seriously. I am also a life-long learner, always growing and extending the width of my tent.Along my path to self-discovery I ran into a lot of ditches, detours and road blocks, and although the ride wasn’t always as smooth as I would have liked, I still wouldn’t change a thing. The journey has been amazing. I love being a Diva, but there comes a time when you need to evolve into something more. Brand New Diva is about growing as a woman. It's about being the best you can be, no matter the circumstance.
When searching online to find a group of older women to share my story with, I either found sites about “cougars” (older women who are into younger men) or senior citizens groups. Now I have nothing against these women, but they didn’t represent who I was. And I knew that there were many women like me out there, but no one was acknowledging them or speaking to their spirit. Brand New Diva represents a new generation of women. We aren’t like our mothers or their mothers before them. We are living longer, doing more and looking better doing it. We know who we are, what we want, and are not afraid to ask for it—that’s the mindset of a Grown and Sexy Woman.

As you know it’s not about time, but timing. Brand New Diva is a venture that was 40+ years in the making. I could not have done it any sooner or later. It’s taken a lifetime of living to be able to share my insights and experiences in the hopes to inspire and encourage others to do the same.
Most people consider my life to be very fascinating. I attended 12 different schools before college, served in the military, been married, divorced and have had the opportunity to travel the world. I never thought much about it but when I look back in retrospect, I guess you can say that it has been interesting.
I don’t consider myself to be an expert on life, because I'm still learning. But if you truly want to sum up my experience, I guess you can say that I am a child of God, a mother, a survivor, a creative muse, social butterfly, a rebel without a pause and, oh yeah—a Diva!
